Addit! Pro For Flight Simulator 2002

The Setup program does not install anything it just opens a browser window to www.byteforge.com.

You must install Windows Installer version 2.0 or better before proceeding. Follow the instructions below to download and install Windows Installer 2.0. After version 2.0 is installed re-run the Addit! Pro setup program.

How to get Windows Installer

Go to Microsoft's web site to get the latest version of Windows Installer for your operating system:

*Windows XP and Windows XP Service Pack 1 already include Windows Installer version 2.0. Version 3.0 is now available and is included with Windows XP Service Pack 2 but you can also download it separately.

If the links above do not work search the Microsoft Download Area for "Windows Installer" (www.microsoft.com).

Windows Installer FAQ

What is Windows Installer?

Windows Installer is an installation and configuration service for software programs. Developed by Microsoft, Windows Installer provides a mechanism to install, configure and uninstall applications on your PC.

How do I discover which version, if any, is on my machine?

Examine the version of MSI.DLL located in your \Windows\System (or \Windows\System32) folder. If MSI.DLL is not present then Windows Installer is not installed on your PC.

Versions prior to 2.0 were buggy so it is strongly recommended you update your PC to at least V2.0. Version 3.0 is now available and is included with Windows XP Service Pack 2 but you can also download it separately. Version 4 ships with Windows Vista and is only available on that OS.

What is an MSI file?

An MSI (short for Microsoft Installer) file contains a Windows Installer package. The application files you are installing reside inside the MSI file. If your PC does not appear to handle MSI files you may not have Windows Installer installed.
