Addit! Pro For Flight Simulator 2002

Setup (or Addit! Pro) can’t find Flight Simulator 2002. Help!

Addit! Pro looks at the Windows registry to locate Flight Simulator 2002. When Flight Simulator 2002 was installed, the registry was updated. The Flight Simulator 2002 setup program should have set the location where Flight Simulator 2002 was installed. It created this registry key:

My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator\8.0\EXE Path

The value of “EXE Path” above is your Flight Simulator 2002 folder. For example, it might be “C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\FS2002”. If Flight Simulator 2002 was never installed (or was installed but later removed), this key will not exist. Also, you may need to run Flight Simulator 2002 at least once before the registry is updated properly.

Addit! Pro uses this key to make sure a known version of Flight Simulator 2002 is installed at that location. If Addit! Pro cannot find “fs2002.exe” at this location or if the executable file is not recognized, an error occurs. Addit! Pro will inform you of the problem and present a dialog. You can then enter your true Flight Simulator 2002 path. After validating the entered path, Addit! Pro will offer to update the Windows registry to fix the problem.

Setup finds Flight Simulator 2002 but says it does not recognize the version
You must have a known version of Flight Simulator 2002 installed. Addit! Pro is not designed to work with earlier/different versions (for example, Flight Simulator 2000). It is also not designed to work with future versions (for example, Flight Simulator 2004). Addit! Pro works only with Flight Simulator 2002.

If you are certain you have the correct version of Flight Simulator, reinstalling Flight Simulator 2002 will solve the problem. However, this must be done exactly as follows:

  1. Use the Windows Add/Remove Programs dialog to uninstall Flight Simulator 2002
  2. Delete all of the leftover Flight Simulator 2002 folders and files.
  3. Reinstall Flight Simulator 2002.
  4. Run Flight Simulator 2002 once then exit the program.
  5. Reinstall Addit! Pro.
