Addit! Pro For Flight Simulator 2002
What's the best way to backup the program?
To backup Addit! Pro V5.x, you need to perform two steps:
1. Make copies of the program and data files.
Save all files and all folders in your Addit! Pro folder structure. For
example, if you installed the program to 'C:\Program Files\Addit! Pro FS 2002\' you would
save:
C:\Program Files\Addit! Pro FS 2002\
C:\Program Files\Addit! Pro FS 2002\Addons\
(and all subfolders beneath this one)
C:\Program Files\Addit! Pro FS 2002\Backups\
C:\Program Files\Addit! Pro FS 2002\Cabinet\
(and all subfolders beneath this one)
C:\Program Files\Addit! Pro FS 2002\Images\
C:\Program Files\Addit! Pro FS 2002\Originals\
(and all subfolders beneath this one)
C:\Program Files\Addit! Pro FS 2002\Settings\
To restore the backup, simply copy these files back to their original location.
2. Export the program's registry data (optional).
You can also save Addit! Pro's registry information. This will save your
registration name and unlocking number and your program settings. To do so follow
these instructions:
1. Press the Start button, select Run and enter
'Regedit.exe'.
2. Using Regedit, navigate to the following key:
My
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Addit! Pro For Flight Simulator 2002
3. Highlight the key 'Addit! Pro For Flight
Simulator 2002'.
4. Pull down the Registry menu and select Export.
5. Enter a filename such as 'C:\Addit! Pro FS 2002 Backup
Registry Data'.
6. Make sure 'Selected branch' is chosen under 'Export
range'.
7. Select Save.
To restore the registry data, open Windows Explorer then double
click on the file you saved ('C:\Addit! Pro FS 2002 Backup Registry Data.reg' in the above
example).
Backup FAQ
Does Addit! Pro store any data files in Flight Simulator 2002's folder
structure?
Addit! Pro may create backup copies of several simulator files like
Scenery.cfg. It may also create backup panel and sound configuration files (these
have the extension '.apb').
Can I restore or move Flight Simulator 2002 and/or Addit! Pro to a different
drive or folder?
Flight Simulator 2002 uses relative paths when saving folder names. Relative
paths are paths that do not include a drive designation. So "C:\Program
Files\Microsoft Games\FS2002\Aircraft" is not a relative path, but something like
"[FS]\Aircraft" is. So it should be possible to safely move Flight
Simulator 2002 to a different drive or folder. The same is true for Addit! Pro
V4.x+. So, moving either application shouldn't cause problems. Be aware that
once you move Addit! Pro to a new location, the shortcuts in Windows\Start Menu\Programs
will no longer be accurate. You'll need to update them to point to the new folder.
What information does Addit! Pro store in the registry?
The program stores various settings in the registry at this location:
My
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Addit! Pro For Flight Simulator 2002
Addon information is stored in the database (Additpro.mdb) and not in the registry.
That's why backing up the registry is optional. You won't lose any addon information
if you forget to backup the registry.
