Addit! Pro For Combat Flight Simulator 2

Setup (or Addit! Pro) can’t find Combat Flight Simulator 2. Help!

Addit! Pro looks at the Windows registry to locate Combat Flight Simulator 2. When Combat Flight Simulator 2 was installed, the registry was updated. The Combat Flight Simulator 2 setup program should have set the location where Combat Flight Simulator 2 was installed. It created this registry key:

My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Combat Flight Simulator\2.0\EXE Path\

The value of “EXE Path” above is your Combat Flight Simulator 2 folder. For example, it might be “C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\CFS2”. If Combat Flight Simulator 2 was never installed (or was installed but later removed), this key will not exist. Also, you may need to run Combat Flight Simulator 2 at least once before the registry is updated properly.

Addit! Pro uses this key to make sure a known version of Combat Flight Simulator 2 is installed at that location. If Addit! Pro cannot find “cfs2.exe” at this location or if the executable file is not recognized, an error occurs. Addit! Pro will inform you of the problem and present a dialog. You can then enter your true Combat Flight Simulator 2 path. After validating the entered path, Addit! Pro will offer to update the Windows registry to fix the problem.

Setup finds Combat Flight Simulator 2 but says it does not recognize the version
You must have a known version of Combat Flight Simulator 2 installed. Addit! Pro is not designed to work with earlier/different versions (for example, Combat Flight Simulator 1). It is also not designed to work with future versions (for example, Combat Flight Simulator 3). Addit! Pro works only with Combat Flight Simulator 2.

If you are certain you have the correct version of Flight Simulator, reinstalling Combat Flight Simulator 2 will solve the problem. However, this must be done exactly as follows:

  1. Use the Windows Add/Remove Programs dialog to uninstall Combat Flight Simulator 2.
  2. Delete all of the leftover Combat Flight Simulator 2 folders and files.
  3. Reinstall Combat Flight Simulator 2.
  4. Run Combat Flight Simulator 2 once then exit the program.
  5. Reinstall Addit! Pro.
